Not in Scotland, but in England. It’s no surprise to me, but
in a new poll carried out for the Telegraph 43% of English voters polled are in
favour of Scottish independence , versus 32% opposed. Over the border, the
figures are 40% in favour and 43% opposed.
It’s a reflection of several things: the fact that we (the
English) are sick to the back teeth of the special treatment that the Sweaties
get financially; a decade of England’s destiny being decided by Scottish Labour
MPs in general and the despised absentee MP for Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath in
particular and finally that Alex Salmond is, in a highly competitive field, a standout
of arrogant pomposity.
The numbers tell you everything you need to know about the referendum
spat. Salmond wants to wait until the 700th anniversary of
Bannockburn and hope that a wave of anti-English sentiment gets him over the
line, whereas ‘Cast-iron’ Dave wants to get the button pushed now, when the
Union would win and before it sinks in to the English electorate that we’re
still owed a referendum on continued membership of the EU.
I say roll it in to one, give the English a two-question referendum
on Scotland and the EU. Give England its independence and consign Scotland to
the EU and the Euro. There may be a few costs involved, such as having to
relocate the Nukes from Faslane, but surely it’s worth it to never have another
Labour government?
Maybe it's time to revive the home-rule for Yorkshire campaign.

JS - I don't think the locals are too stoked about Alistair Darling who has a house on Great Bernera, Isle Of Lewis.
When my Cousin and her husband pointed it out to us in March last year they made a couple of derogatory comments.
