A question for Len

Robert Winter from Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow has a question for Len Brown; he blogs:

It is a simple one, requiring a "yes" or "no" answer. Will he allow POAL to make redundant its workforce and contract out its staff?

I'm sure that anyone who has more than a passing interest in the Mexican stand-off between PoAL and the MUNZ would be interested in the answer to this question. At the end of the day however, we wonder whether it's all academic, and whether the Mayor has any say in the operating decisions of a council-owned company.

It would be interesting to know too what other elected Auckland officials think; Cr Cathy Casey, Cr Penny Hulse, Cr Cameron Brewer, and our old Manawatu compatriot Cr George Wood to name but four. If any of these, or other Auckland councillors happen to read this, feel free to leave a comment.

In the meantime, we'll keep an eye out on Idle Thoughts lest Len Brown answers, or lest Robert Winter feels compelled to repeat the question.

It is pretty straight forward where the Auckland Council stands on this: We passed a resolution late last year supporting the board of directors of Ports of Auckland and that would include obviously the CEO.

Thanks for commenting George. Can we make the assumption then that the Mayor voted in favour of the resolution?

Appreciate you coming on here and engaging.

Here is the comment I left over at RW' place a couple of hours ago.

`If Brown leads as he should do he will support the actions of Ports Of Auckland.

However given his propensity for inane and sometimes actions verging on the insane who knows what he will do - bang his head on his desk perhaps.'
