Threatening behaviour

Not surprisingly, The Standard takes the union line in the Ports of Auckland dispute. But we find this comment on the relevant thread to be rather sinister:

millsy 16

I think the union needs to take to the streets over this. And be prepared to use force against:

Cameron Slater
David Farrar
Len Brown
George Wood
Christine Fletcher.

To Lynn Prentice's credit, he has sent "millsy" a message:

[lprent: Advocating the use of force is stupid when there are legitimate channels available. It is also unlawful and not tolerated here. Pull your head in. ]

Lynn is quite right; advocating force is indeed illegal and ought not be tolerated, and accordingly praise is given where it's due.

However it does go to show that there are some nasty folk out there (on both sides of the political divide), and when something like this is advocated, exposing it to sunlight is the best course of action.

Glory Hallelujah!

Well said, Inventory2!
This, coupled with your humanitarian comments on the Tauranga 16 year-old's case, signal a new and admirable clarity in your thinking.
It's a pleasure to watch the effects of your epiphany unfold :-)

Good to see Lynn Prentice responding so strongly against such a stupid comment. A bit different to Mallard, Curran and cos instant banning of dissentinh commenters.

Those leftys seem to want to use violence all the time.

I was shocked and surprised by the violent response I got from the MUNZ picket line this morning when I was on my way to work.

I thought I should show my support for the comrades standing staunchly in the rain. Imagine my surprise at the violent response I received when I suggested the lazy so and so's should go and do some work.

Paranormal

Millsy has been a "blood on the streets, people dying in accident and emergency, kill the right wingers" type ever since he started posting, which was several years ago.

Another strike against the theory of evolution.

@Robert - you've only now just noticed what we've all known for years??????

Making productive people -and the Ports own documents say this is the case - redundant is a form of violence. Mr Gibson is attacking port workers in ways that are as unpleasant and nasty as any forms of physical violence. This is a disgraceful display of management arrogance and bullying.

He's masked it so well, Zen.
It's still pleasing, though (apparently) old hat.

Thank God you're here, Robert W!
Things were getting nasty in the KS comments thread!

Oh please, take a cement pill...

Robert W turning up on this thread was nothing more than an increasing set of statistical probabilities.

Although the choice of the seed number may have been an act of God.

@ TCrwld; yes; it's not as though Robert doesn't say nasty things himself, which is why his presence here is no longer welcome.

Oh ffs Robert what sanctimonious rubbish.

That aside, you see no problem with threats of violence, not against the protagonists, but against others whos views differ to the union?

I've never seen the word 'nasty' used so often as I have here on Keeping Stock! I'm thinking back to the weeks prior to the election when 'the nasty party' was a frequently used phrase here. I was pleased, as I began with on today's thread, to see that Inventory2 recognised that those sorts of statements come from both the Left and the Right. personally, I avoid using them. Cameron Slater's the go-to man for that sort of stuff.

". personally," bOb, the p should have been a capital.
Now, I don't care, but I know this sort of error upsets you

lprent's "rebuke" reads two ways to me.

The first is that he's only telling the guy to pull back because it's stupid, then adds that it's illegal as an afterthought.

The second is that he's scathing of the guy's idiocy.

Either way, I'd expect stronger language.

Calling people who get paid for not working "productive" is a form of lying.
