I was watching parliament and saw Winston Peters apparently skewer Anne Tolley…I even tweeted about it…I was going to call this play of the day…that was until I obtained the letter that he tabled. Watch the video before you read the document.
Here's the video, courtesy of In the House:
Slater has, it would seem, some very good spies. He has already blogged the document, and we have to agree that the actual document tabled bears scant resemblance to what was alleged by the leader of NZ First.
It will be interesting to see whether Anne Tolley or some other Member takes a case for breach of privilege to the Speaker. After all, one of said NZ First leader's final acts before being rejected by the electorate in 2008 was to listen to a debate on a matter of privilege. And at the end of that debate, the House voted by a majority of 62 votes to 56 to "censure Rt Hon Winston Peters for knowingly providing false or misleading information on a return of pecuniary interests".
Indeed; matters of privilege are not exactly new territory for one of New Zealand's longest-serving politicians.

WPDS, right here! All you can eat!
Misleading the House - John Key.
gs:
“Not to the best of my knowledge – that is absolutely correct – I wasn’t even aware these emails existed until I heard about them yesterday” a flustered Key said in Parliament today in response to another question from Grant Robertson about the Radio Live PM’s Hour – watch it here. I wasn’t aware
Key steadfastly denied yesterday that his office had anything to do with the programme’s control, particularly stressing that “to the best of his knowledge” he did not know that his Communications Manager had anything to do with writing the late approach to the Electoral Commission for an opinion on the show’s legality, sent in Radio Live’s name.
anon - John Key did not look very flustered to me.
Wow Anon; this must be really bad on Peters' part, with the interference you're running. Are you Andrew Williams? Or maybe Curwen Rolinson?
