Prime Minister John Key and fellow politicians were verbally abused by protesters during ugly scenes at Waitangi this morning.
Protester Wi Popata heckled prominent Maori MPs at Te Tii Marae, calling Dr Pita Sharples, Te Ururoa Flavell and Hekia Parata "John Key's niggers."
"The Treaty's not for sale," chanted others.
"You should be ashamed of yourselves."
Maori Wardens and Diplomatic Security Services members kept them away from Mr Key as he made a forced exit after a farcical gathering, during which officials could not be heard for all the chanting.
One protester cried "scumbag" as Mr Key entered his vehicle.
And this link on Stuff has video footage of Key's arrival at Te Tii Marae, then notes later in the story:
About 40 Mana Party supporters were screaming slogans and chants as the politicians arrived at the marae.
Our knowledge of marae protocol is rudimentary at best, but we know that it is a matter of mana to welcome manuhiri to the marae before robust but orderly korero takes place on the paepae. The powhiri to the Prime Minister and other guests today was anything but respectful.
The usual suspects were there this morning. At least the Popata brothers did not attack the PM physically this year, as they did in 2009. The protesters may have achieved their aim of stopping John Key from being heard. But they have significantly detracted from the mana of the people of the Te Tii Marae.
And we can't help but conclude that the Mana Party is woefully mis-named.

I comment those who denied Key the platform of spreading the Neo-liberal dogma for his masters in the US. Today or tomorrow and anywhere. I don't need the prescription dished out from any podium to poison the minds of the oppressed with a false sense of hope for prosperity and the freedom that suppose to emerge from that prosperity. One of the basic
elements of the relationship between oppressor and oppressed is prescription. Every prescription
represents the imposition of one individual’s choice upon another, transforming the consciousness of the
person prescribed to into one that conforms with the prescriber’s consciousness. Thus, the behavior of
the oppressed is a prescribed behavior, following as it does the guidelines of the oppressor.
@ Anon; would you care to repeat that in words that us non-academics can understand?
I wouldn't bother, it's just recycled Marxist boilerplate.

You are quite correct in everything you say here, though I believe you meant "commend", rather than "comment".
Denying the authoritarians the opportunity to set the terms is a powerful action and those who did so today, won.
That these chumps here can't follow your clear message tells you all you need to know about them.
Perhaps "these chumps here" simply recognise recycled bullshit when they see it. :)
anonymous at 1:57.
Even "red" Jim Flynn who lectured me many years ago wouldn't be able to understand the rubbish you posted.
Anon .. did you forget your pills?
Brilliant comment, jabba!
Did you have to think long and hard before you came up with it, or did you overhear some half-wit use it and decide it was comedy gold?
Waitangi Day antics are a disgrace to New Zealand. These loud mouth savages need a big smack down for a better future for all kiwis.
Quality comment, Daddy-o.
Anonymous is just revelling the intolerance of many on the left.
They pay lip service to principles of freedom of speech but really only want the freedoem to propagate their rather odious view of the world.
If people like Anonymous ever got in to power rest assured they would be setting up Media commissions and implementing 'educational' programmes to ensure the only message getting out was their own.

Wake up and breath the free air in this country, before spouting such rubbish.
If you want to see the reality of oppression then go live in Homs, Syria or Iran, or Kandahar for 6 months - then come back and see if you are still spouting the same garbage about oppression in NZ.
Where do you people get this rubbish from?
I, like all the Smart Kiwis left NZ to get away from that Anti Pakeha bullshit! Maori, should Get Over the Past and worry about the fact NZ looks more like Samoa everyday! NZ is becoming a Third World Dumping ground of Pacific Islanders, who like others, Milk the Welfare system!
Then sadly, now Skilled at that, they use a NZ Passport to come to Aussie and like others, bring their Street Gang Bullshit here and Piss the Aussies off! Trust me, Aussies generally tolerate Kiwis, but I can assure you, like African gangs here, you will soon Burn out, your welcome!
If you want to be in a Gang, STAY IN NZ! We DON'T want you here. That is half the reason we left OUR beautiful Home!
To any Protesters who use agression to try and push your point, like Wintana Popata etc, If Pakeha has done you so wrong, Go back to your Grass Skirt Bro! All of you...Go back to Grass Skirts and Get Off the NZ WELFARE that Buys your BEER and Smokes! You lot would NOT last a week! You are happy to take and Go On The Dole BRO! I know... I saw it in the 80's and 90's and forever! All you do is TAKE!
Get off your Ass, get a Job and get off the Dole! Show your children, the DOLE is Not a way of life. It is a support in time of Hardship!Pakeha OWE YOU, Nothing! Get over the past BRO! and make NZ the place I was ONCE proud to call my home. I know many Kiwis who would have stayed in NZ, but all you see are Gangs and Islanders! The NZ I knew and loved has sadly Died! I miss her Beautiful Green Hills and Valleys!
This message is Not to hurt anyone, but I bet I will read plenty of support after this Post!
Cheers!
Once a Proud Kiwi!
