We've been busy this morning, visiting a family member who went under the surgeon's knife yesterday; the main point of our trip down to Christchurch.
But when we realised that we were going to be here this weekend, we naturally checked the Super Rugby schedule (as you do), and were delighted to see that the Crusaders were scheduled to play the unbeaten Stormers tonight, right here in the Garden City. We were even more delighted when we managed to get tickets for tonight's fixture.
This is a big game. The Crusaders forwards really took it to the Stormers last season in Cape Town in what was probably their best performance of the season. They will need to be at their best again tonight if they are to compete with the Stormers who are in the form of their lives.
But we really like the idea of Dan Carter playing at #12; it gives the Crusaders great options on attack and defence with either a left-foot (Carter) kicker or a right-footer in Tom Taylor being able to drop in at first receiver, depending on field position. We're going to tip the Crusaders to prevail in this match, but there won't be a lot in it.
And it's going to be great to go to the new AMI Stadium at Addington. We've done a recce and worked out where we need to go, and from the outside, the stadium looks impressive. We'll try and get something on camera tonight to add to the blog tomorrow. Apparently the match is all but sold out, and if there's anything like the atmosphere of the opening match there three weeks ago, it will be a night to remember. Our only problem is that we don't have much red in our wardrobe!

The Crusaders really need this win if they are going to be contenders at the end of the conference sections. It proved to be too tough from 5th or 6th spot last year.
Agreed pdm; it's a vital game for the Crusaders
