Grant us strength!

Just when you thought that reality TV couldn't get any worse, it does; Stuff reports:

Jaime Ridge is set to go toe-to-toe in the boxing ring with one of the stars of TV show The GC, as she battles to secure her own reality TV show.
Ridge, 18, will fight Rosanna Arkle, who is understood to be boxing in just a bikini, during an undercard match at the KFC Godfather of Fight Nights in Auckland on July 5.
The organiser of the event, David Higgins, was this morning reluctant to talk about Ridge's inclusion in the event as a formal announcement was scheduled for 11am, but he confirmed she would fight.
He would not comment on her opponent, but it's believed it will be Arkle, 23, a Whangarei-raised self-declared glamour model, who is one of the female stars of TV3's The GC.
The show follows a group of young Maori living on the Gold Coast.

Arkle flew into Auckland yesterday.
The pair will fight over three two-minute rounds.
The main bout, held at the SkyCity Convention Centre, is between heavyweights Shane Cameron and American Monte Barrett.
The daughter of former Kiwis captain and All Black Matthew Ridge has been training with former Warrior and boxer Monty Betham and the pair have been tweeting about her progress.
"That is how you train. Have to breakdown before you can rebuild stronger. Great workout today at Boxing Alley," Betham tweeted on May 24.
Ridge wrote on the same day: "Got to go through the pain to gain."
She also tweeted about an early morning shopping trip to Britomart to buy "my new training outfit".
The fight is no doubt more made-for-TV fodder for a reality TV pilot Ridge is filming with her mother Sally. The pair have been seen with a camera crew catching up with gal-pals at Ponsonby hotspot SPQR and were recently followed to Colin Mathura-Jeffree's 40th birthday party.

Stories like this make us delighted that we have Sky TV, with a wide range of programme choices. Imagine if this was the only channel one could watch, as it was back in the good old days. It doesn't even bear thinking about!

Suffice to say, we'll give this one a miss...

And yet we're gonna lose TVNZ7...Jesus wept.

That's of course a different issue Suz, but I take your point. Little wonder we've become dumbed down. Thank goodness for the documentary channels.

You do realise that giiing them attention you are complicit in making sure they have the oxygen to continue with their mind-numbingly narcissistic attention-grabbing, self-ego-stroking, useless no-contributions to our society and its wellbeing, don't you?

On the topic of dumbed-down, KS and by your grace, I offer this link for jabba, who has forever claimed that my own blog attracts no comments :-)

Well done Robert; I've only ever hit 100 comments on a post a couple of times.

But are you saying that your blog is dumbed down?

I'm buggered if I see your point KS.

Two sheilas fighting (dressed) doesn't interest me at all but each to his/her own.

I simply shall not watch.

Surely the only solution is to ignore these people.

@Tinman...barely dressed..."Arkle who is understood to be fighting in just a bikini."

I'm liking your solution.

The purpose of this post is to help you forget all about Hekia Parata and the stuff-ups of other members of Team FUBAR.
In the House yesterday, she looked idiotic.

Anticipate the PR blurb the day before the event to the effect they will fight in the nude.

I very much doubt I'll be watching, but having recently pulled on the gloves to enhance my training for chasing an inflated pig's bladder round a muddy field, I have a definite respect for anyone who'll do the training yards and step into a ring to face an opponent.

@ Robert (10.37am) - may I offer you some sage advice, slightky paraphrased to reflect the medium; it's better to remain silent and be thought of as a fool than to leave a petty comment on a blog and remove all doubt.

'Petty comment on a petty post', KS.
Let's be fair.

Keeping Stock said...

You'll not of course that I haven't blogged a petty post about the rumoured resignation of Shane Jones yet Robert; everyone's talking about it; Farrar, Slater, Morgan Godfery...

They've been two posts in the last two days about Ms Parata to which you have contributed. It's not as though I've ignored the issue. Now stay on topic, or we will have to have another talk!

Add Robert Winter to the list Robert

http://robertwinter.blogspot.co.nz/2012/05/will-mr-jones-jump-ship.html

Will Mr Jones jump ship?
Possibly. There are rumours, and not for the first time, and he's not necessarily the most popular member of caucus, even if he is bright. He has had a bellyful of problems, in part of his own making. The porn stuff is, in the long run, not a gamebreaker, but a lengthy period under the shadow of the AG's investigation may be. He is also on the Right of the party, and it's not obvious that his career has far to go with possible changes in direction of the party over time. His political ambitions may have been finally thwarted, and he is an ambitious man. He also has lots of options to go to, most paying a lot more that his current job, and with far less hassle. A bit like Mr Power, really.

We'll see. If he does go, Labour will shed the odd tear, but not many. And Ms Beaumont would step up to plate admirably.

If Robert W is predicting Jones' demise, I would speculate that it is very much imminent.

robertguyton said...

Good riddance, then. If Jones has behaved inappropriately, then 'on yer bike mate', I say. I've no qualms about calling anyone who's cheated the public, Jones, Banks, whoever, if that's the case.
Thos Jaime Ridge post was trite though, KS. Not that that's a bad thing, trite is part of any good blog. It provides some padding between hard stuff. I'm just pointing it out, why every now and then I throw in something fluffy to relieve the intellectual strain on my own readers :-)
