Quote of the Day - 16 June 2012

Steven Joyce got a second chance to remind people about prior convention centre deals on Thursday when David Cunliffe questioned him. But the door was left open for a supplementary question from Coromandel MP Scott Simpson:

Scott Simpson: Has he seen any reports endorsing convention centre deals in return for gambling concessions, including extra machines?
Hon STEVEN JOYCE: In fact, I have, and as I rise I would say that the member opposite has just illustrated all the things that he does not want to do to create jobs in New Zealand. But I have seen a report from 2004 stating: “Here in New Zealand it has been pleasing to see continuing investment in the quality of our tourism infrastructure. In Auckland, Sky City has pumped $140 million into its new Convention Centre,”. This, of course, was in reaction to Skycity’s 2001 deal with the Government of the day that resulted in 230 extra gaming machines in return for Skycity’s current convention centre. I let the members draw their own conclusions about the relationship between 2001 and today. But it might help to note that the quote was from a former Labour Party Prime Minister, one Helen Clark.

Once again the Labour Party is trying to rewrite history, just as it did last year via Phil Goff on the issue of asset sales. Steven Joyce was dead right on Thursday; this is all about politics, and has nothing to do with principles or problem gambling.

That's your opinion, to which you're entitled.
A closer look at a few more facts suggest otherwise.
Don't let your shilling disrupt the carefully manufactured credibility you are close to getting...

For a supposed strategist Joyce sure gets down to brass tacks when it comes to doing deals with his chums to make them richer. Where's the vision though? Or is that the vision?

"his chums" .. the drudge is trolling again .. what chums drudge, name them?

Poor jubjub. What's it like to have me living rent-free inside your head?

Mediaworks and SkyCity for a start.

that's a new insult drudge, well done.
I guess with Joyce being such a success in the real world, as with John Key, he would have friends everywhere which, apart from bObby G, is something strange to you.
keep up the trolling, you are good for a giggle

Nothing wrong with having buddies jubjub (you should try it). It's when you're a minister and you do wee favours for the boys that it's a wee bit dodge ja?

jabba said...

sounds like you are accusing Joyce of corrruption drudge .. is that what you are saying

"jubjub"

How I laughed! Laughed and laughed!

"jubjub"

How apt.
(means 'appropriate', jubjub).

Sorry, 'appropriate' means 'suitable'.
Or 'fitting', but not as in 'seizure', jubjub.
You do make it difficult, you know!
How about, 'jubjub and his name go hand in hand' - that sounds a bit gay, but hey, jubbles, were all big boys together here, eh!

"sounds like you are accusing Joyce of corrruption (sic)"

Crony capitalism definitely jubjub. What would you call it? Tories use the system to help their chums make money. It's their way. They sell it to their shills by arguing that the self-interest of their chums is the national interest. You'd buy that wouldn't you?

So Labour never skews the system in favour of their union mates Judge? The donation by the Service and Food Workers Union in 2005 of $237,364 had nothing to do with Darien Fenton getting a high list place? Your side is not exactly lily-white Holden...

looks like the leftard wankers, drudge and his anon mates (is booby one of them) are picking on me .. I am so worried about that .. by the way, name a time and place and I am willing to discuss your concerns .. oh, don't worry, I know you will all be too gutless to front

Judge Holden said...

As far as I know or care Fenton's selection was legitimate and legal. Join the Labour Party if you don't like it. Big difference between a legitimate selection and the Mediaworks bailout, for example.

Jubjub, you seem to think you're more important than you are. Get a life, chief.
