You turn your back for a moment...

We've had a very productive day in Wellington, and now we're home. We briefly dallied with the idea of popping into Parliament to watch Question Time, and now that we're catching up with the day's news, we're beginning to wish we had! A whole lot happened today while our back was turned, and our attention was directed elsewhere.

It's been all on for young and old this afternoon, with the main issue of the day being ACC. Andrew Little sought and won an urgent debate on the resignations of John Judge, two of his board members, and now of CEO Ralph Stewart. Their departures have rather callously been described by Andrew Little is his speech in the urgent debate as "like rats from a sinking ship".

Labour continues to allege that Nick Smith manufactured a financial crisis in ACC in 2009. Strangely, Labour objected to Nick Smith tabling the audited accounts of ACC for the 2007-8 and 2008-9 years, showing losses in total of around $6billion for those two financial years alone. And Labour continues to allege that National plans to privatise ACC. Little, Chris Hipkins and Grant Robertson can repeat the allegation until they are breathless and hoarse, but it won't make an untrue allegation true.

In contrast, Kevin Hague, one Green MP for whom we have some considerable respect for gave a measured and factual speech in which he actually urged Judith Collins to stay on and oversee a change in the dysfunctional culture of ACC which has flourished since long before National came to power in November 2008.

And the other story, although overshadowed by the ACC debate is the decision of the Auditor-General to look into the tendering process for the SkyCity convention centre. Although the Greens see this as vindication for their opposition to a project that will provide hundreds of jobs, we welcome the investigation, because we do not believe that the Government has anything to hide.

And through it all, Hekia Parata's class-size backdown of just six days ago now seems like it was a lifetime ago. Has Labour picked the wrong battle again?

Until it happens. As planned. Very cute though INV2!

"Has Labour picked the wrong battle again?"
Not picked.. National keeps handing monumental f**k ups to them on a plate.

This is the worst government in a long long long time.
And to think I voted for them. I'm not getting what I thought I would...

My my, what a short memory you have!

Poor Nats, lurching from one crisis to the next. Why are they so incompetent? Even their plants at ACC have proved hopeless. Which way is the long-term polling trend for the Nats Adolf? Even someone as clueless about such things as you should be able to read that one.

All of these cock-ups ultimately get sheeted home to Key's poor management ability. You know that right?

@ Judge Holden

What is the scandal about the plants at ACC?

What a waste of money if they can't be fed and watered properly.

A little Green initiative squandered for what?

There must be resignations.

" Has Labour picked the wrong battle again?"

Huh?

Labour doesn't need to 'pick a battle' at all. National is shelling itself relentlessly. Labour just has to make sure it doesn't catch any shrapnel.

It's glorious to watch. Looks like the AG sees enough bent behaviour from Key to warrant an investigation into the Casino 'laws for sale' business.
Good.

Bye, John.

Chief, the Nats are such poor administrators it wouldn't surprise if they couldn't keep the office shrubery alive.

I wish they bloody would privatize it. And the schools. And the hospitals. And electricity generation (and retail). And retirement savings.

Personally, I wouldn't trust any of the mendacious scum "gracing" our parliament to run the local parish cake stall, and yet most kiwis trust them to run accident insurance, and of their children, and health care, and power supply, and retirement savings.

Proves what gullible fools most kiwis are!

Judge Holden said...

Unlike you Gantt. You're not gullible. You just believe that there's some sort of global conspiracy to implement a policy of eugenics agains white protestants. Someone who would believe that has gone beyond gullibility. Nutter.

Jeez, stalker. It just kills you that trolls like you aren't afforded an audience at CR. you read the posts and comments obsessively, your face pressed against the glass knowing you'll never be allowed to join the conversation.

And For once, you fucking idiot, I was agreeing with you. Key has no business running the country. He is an invertebrate, and his front bench are all either corrupt or so close to it they'd sell their grandmothers to retain power. The only thing Key has going for him is that he's less terrible than Shearer. And way, clay less terrible than the other idiots Turei, Norman, Banks and especially Peters and Hatfield.

CR is good for laffs, even if a bit repetitive. A bunch of aging fear-filled losers screeching wild-eyed about swarthy types and a forthcoming apocalypse that somehow never arrives. Little wonder the little gay guy who runs it doesn't allow dissenting voices. The pwning would be terrible.

The Gantt Guy said...

Riiiiiight, because Inv allowing trolls like you and your retarded first cousin / gay lover Guyton to thread jack every post at Keeping Stock makes for such a rich discussion.

The reason dickheads like you aren't allowed to join the discussion at CR is because it's a place where the grown-ups talk. You're allowed to watch, but until you at least hit puberty, you're not allowed to participate. Now,cyour mum is calling you for breakfast. Take your hand off it, tie up your dressing gown and run upstairs for your weet-nix and warm milk, then off you go to school, troll.

Judge Holden said...

By "grown ups" do you mean fear-filled, psycho, paranoid, racist, conspiracy peddling nutbars? At what age do people turn into one of those?

The little man's a coward, plain and simple. Not get back to drinking that early morning gin and lying on the couch.

Keeping Stock said...

That's enough I think gentlemen...

The Gantt Guy said...

My apologies for, once again, feeding the troll, Inv.

My original point, before the thread jack, was that none of those currently "serving" in parliament can be trusted with so much as a choos raffle in the local pub, yet so many of us believe they can run the country. And so many of us wonder why our country is sinking into a morass, economically, costly and culturally.

The Gantt Guy said...

Oops. Clearly "choos" in my last comment should read "chook". That hilarious apple autocorrect at play again :)
