The good old days of Origin

It's the State of Origin decider tonight. Queensland and New South Wales will go head to head at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, and it's be state against state and mate against mate.

But they don't make State of Origin like they used to. So here's a clip from the days when "the biff" rained, Wally Lewis was the Emperor of Lang Park, and XXXX beer was sold in cans:

Chances are we won't see anything like this in tonight's match, was is a bit of a pity really, as Origin built its reputation on being a no-holds-barred clash between League's hardest men. And who will win this sudden-death clash?

Ah; that's the $64,000 question; bring it on!

I've generally supported Queensland, especially when Graeme Lowe was coaching them and again when Steven Price was playing. But I think that Origin needs NSW to win tonight and take the series.

I hope there is some biff!

I did watch it and it was a good game and a great result.
I have watched most origin games since getting sky in the mid 90s and was watching when Martin Bella carried the ball into a tackle early in a game and was so jolted he got to his feet faced his own posts and raked the ball forward to the blues.
Have always been a toady due to Lowie a bit but love the way they do their mouthing off on the paddock.
The blues seem to find some total pillocks the big blouse Mason probably their no 1.
7 on the trot is so awesome and may never be challenged, I think 3 was the previous best, and I hear tonight Ricky Stewart is still considering next year, fat chance.
Great tactical move for Cronk to take the FG at 70 mins seemed to take the blues out and with the Blue Comentators going on about the obstruction try that last by Morris had a lost forward off the maroons shoulder.
Again a great result and NSW's best chance seems to be the fate of probabilities ie the Maroons will just luck out.
Nice touch when Smith invited Pedro to join him on the dias.
