Lighter blogging ahead maybe; and some new rules

June was a busy blogging month, and that was reflected in the numbers. We recorded our third-busiest month on almost five years of blogging. Only the pre-and-peri-election months of October and November last year had more visitors. Here are the numbers:

So thanks to all who have stopped by for a look, or who have taken the time to leave a comment. But after much consideration, we've decided that anonymous comments will no longer be accepted.

If you can't be bothered spending a moment setting up a Blogger ID we, and those who have followed us since our early days can't be bothered having threads clogged up with endless streams of anonymous inanities. And while we're at it, we're going to start deleting off-topic comments, or those which attack us or other commenters.

The standard of debate here has deteriorated, and our patience has proved to have limited. Disagree with our opinions by all means, but focus on the message rather than the messenger. If that causes visitor numbers to drop, so be it.

And just a heads-up; the next six weeks is going to be pretty busy for us. We're going to be on the road for much of that time, and we also have some significant business deadlines to meet, so that's where our focus will be directed. We'll still be blogging, but probably with not the same level of frequency as we have in recent months.

Right; there's work to be done, once we thaw out; have a great day!

Congratulations on that readership and also getting your priorities right with work and life before blogging.

Well done Iv2.

Excellent rules, I might add.

Good call on banning anon, most people just use it as an excuse to say things which they wouldn't have the balls to say to you face to face.

Thank you, and well done.
Long may you continue.

Your blog will falter.
Monocular vision at first makes one over cautious and eventually results in knocking one'self out.
Prepare for a long period of drought and stagnation.
Here be doldrums.
Sayonara, suckers!

I also commend your move KS.

Kind of a sad day for me Inv. reading the above.

As a blog virgin a coupla years ago, horribly depressed at Paul Henry being tossed, I stumbled across your blog after googling him. Yours was the first site I ever came across, and was astounded that a few taps on my key-board could elicit a response. You de-flowered me ;-)

Now you're numbered 15th, I fear you are becoming more and more cocky, judgmental, and less willing to argue with those who disagree with you.

In my humble opinion, you've always been far better than "No Minister", Kiwiblog" et al.

Imitating the above, is not a step forward.

Tnaks Suz, and I take your comments on board. However I'm not trying to stifle conversation; all I'm asking is that people at the very least sign their posts off with some sort of handle, and that like you, they debate the issue at hand.

It's always been a pleasure to interact with you, even on the occasions you have challenged my view. It's those who make no attempt to engage but merely toss around an allegation or insult whom I've lost patience with.

So...it's the Gannt Guy, Moist von Lipwig and jabba who are peeing you off so much that you have to instigate these measures Keeping Stock?
Those bastards! Spoiling our democratic right to comment.
