We can't help but wonder

Labour tried to pin John Banks down during Question Time this afternoon. Trevor Mallard asked an innocuous primary question on Charter Schools, followed by several supplementaries.

The supplementary questions were quite pointed, but we can't help but wonder if someone other than Trevor Mallard should have been asking them. That especially applies to the question about ethics, which is quite possibly not Trevor Mallard's strongest suit!

Anyway, here's the fun, and John Banks' memory did not desert him this afternoon. The answer about the spelling of "vexatious" and "exonerate" was as pointed as any of Mr Mallard's questions!

Is he really claiming he was exonerated? The guy got off on a technicality and told New Zealanders a bunch of lies along the way. He's finished. Key's too scared to sack him though.

Thats a lot more OFF than the covicted thug Mallard.

I hope JB's notes read "vexatious".

I thought it instructive to watch the National Party MPs baying their support for John Banks' efforts to avoid admitting the obvious - that he had acted unethically and had told lies to the House and to all New Zealanders. That they champion him and his behaviour tells you much about the Government.

Whatever, Murray. Remember the time Banks got into a fight with Winston Peters in the corridor outside the Chamber? Guy's a thug too obviously (as well as an unethical liar), there was just no panty wetting noddy there to waste the court's time by taking a politically motivated private prosecution.

Perhaps John Banks is right that there should be spelling tests. Vexatious would have been a good tests. "Vexacious" would not have got Mallard past the test.

Snow Angel - Peters punched Banks after Banksie threstened to spill one of Winnies dark personal secrets. He wasn't the aggressor any more than Tau Henare was.

And Mallard has no conviction for fighting in a public place as it was a private prosecution.

However, Banksie twisted the rules to get around declaring his donors, he should accept that and quit.

But an own goal for Labour, they should have had some fresh faced first termer pn the up to ask this question - oh, that's right, they've got none.

While I doubt you were there so don't know who hit who, you're now also accusing Banks of blackmail. Yet here he sits in Key's government. Is this the higher standard we were promised?

This asset sale thing's going badly. I'm scared.

It's all right true right, the government will ensure taxpayers foot the bill for everything (enormous brokerage fees, compensation to iwi etc) so those rich enough to purchase shares won't suffer, and neither will the beneficiaries of the cash (ie rich farmers). It's going to be win-win.

I'm not just saying it for giggles Edward, I'm really worried about where this is going. You are making it worse with your explanations. I'm starting to think it is all over for National because of this failure over the asset sales and on top of that John Banks has ruined everyones trust in John Key and his way of managing things.

Do not despair True Right, there is a safe haven for you within another totally trustworthy Party. We are the new beacon of hope for lost and troubled souls. We are soooo clean and honest, you will feel right at home. Of course the explanations by Edward the Confessor will add to your worries in the short term, but he is a Messiah. You must listen to his words of wisdom. This is the true path to political heaven, and safer than the known way. Help is at hand. You need never be worried again by the evil words of the moneychangers and looters, for they will be cast away in our ideal world, such that existed centuries ago. Believe as we do and your soul will have eternal salvation. It is written in the placards. Just say no to progress.
