David Shearer provides today's Quote of the Day, via Stuff:
Shearer said he had talked through the issues with Cunliffe at the weekend, but that was a private conversation.He said Cunliffe was smart, hard-working and was covering a portfolio important to the party.He said he was concerned that months after the leadership was settled, in a run-of with Cunliffe, the debate about that was continuing.Shearer said Cunliffe had not expressed unhappiness at his leadership and was commited to supporting him.Commenting on his own popularity rating, and asked if he was not connecting with voters, Shearer said: "I do not believe I am not not connecting."
All those "not"s; even David Shearer seems to be confused. A single negative such as "I'm not connecting with voters" is self-explanatory. A double negative such as "I'm not not connecting" becomes a positive. But Mr Shearer has gone for a triple negative!
UPDATE: It's a double "Oh dear"! Look who's leading Stuff's latest poll on David Shearer...

Did you bother checking whether that quote was accurate? It looks fishy. Before smearing things like that around, a quick fact check would be a responsible thing to do no?

Did you check the quote with his office, rather than a random tweeter? Thought not.

Saying that you should check the quote with his office for accuracy, rather than just smearing things around with such nasty gloating relish. Anyone (even Vernon Small!) can make mistakes.

He also said his leadership was safe until 2014. Which appears to me to be an acceptance that your side are not feeling to positive about winning.

Fuck. OK you win. I think he confused himself. Obviously he meant to say "I don't think that I'm not not not connecting". Easy mistake to make. As you were.
I actually sympathise with you for having to defend the indefensible Edward; it must be soul-destroying at times.
