How else could you explain this:
And if you think that the petition to oust David Shearer (which requires petitioners to include their Labour Party membership number) is a beat-up, have a read through the almost 400 comments on this post at The Standard, if you can stand it.
Labour's rank and file is poised to revolt against the party. The party members clearly wanted David Cunliffe to lead Labour, but the ABC faction in caucus (Anyone But Cunliffe) ignored the party. Could it now be to their peril? That Cunliffe has been knifed in absentia could just be the last straw.

I think a sister DUDSA needs to be formed quick-smart!
It's too late for that I think James. The Labour Party is so divided now that no-one from the current caucus will be able to pull them together. They seem, as Lance-Corporal Jones on Dad's Army was wont to say "Doomed"!
Fantastic! This couldn't happen to a better party!

That was Private Fraser.
@toad - I think we should probably steer well clear of any "Don't like it up 'em" jokes....
Norm Kirk would be spinning in his grave.
It's a great watch BUT we need a strong opposition and this Labour lot are not it.
To think that parties like the Gweens and Winny1st are getting more positive attention is appalling.
Dumping Shearer is not the answer .. the ABC will be destuctive if he also fails to up their polling stats.
A civil war that needed to happen 25 years ago
The Labour party is revolting!
Yes yes and they smell too!
I almost used that title for this post Lofty, but my sense of decency and good taste prevented it.
There's a certain pathos about this whole messy business which probably had its genesis when a bunch of academics captured the Labour Party twenty-something years ago; about the time that Waitakere Man started to get disillusioned with the NZLP. The chickens have now come home to roost.
Or the Fuzzy wuzzys.
Otoh, General Gordon could be of considerable benefit.
Yes I have to agree with you KS.
It is around that time that myself and many others of my left leaning ilk, lost the faith in slow, and upsetting increments.
I cannot say that I enjoy watching the proecess however, as I strongly believe that for our system to remain robust, a strong and effective opposition is a vital component of parliament.
Sadly "strong" "effective" and "vital" do not form part of any of the opposition parties.
I think the time has come for Cunliffe to confront this rabble head on and call their bluff.
The days of the cloth cap, poofter, wankademic cabal are over.
