Two years ago, at the rude early morning hour of 4.35am Christchurch was shaken from its Saturday morning slumber And on Facebook, Christchurch mayor Bob Parker has reflected on that morning and its aftermath.
We blogged on Friday about the way forward for Christchurch, and it is there that attention should focus. But it is also an important milestone to acknowledge a day when the lives of many people in Christchurch, including friends and family of ours changed forever.

Delay does not mean off does it me old Riverton mate.
CHCH is coming right slowly and the risk level is dropping.
All will,be well.
I was woken that morning at around 6am by a text from my friend in Dublin checking friends and family there were okay, that was the first I realised the shaking I had felt an hour or so earlier was more than a standard Wellington shake. So much has happened in the two years since but the people of Christchurch on the whole have pulled through, the city will be rebuilt, and I think it will be an amazing city. One person I know down believes this will be an exciting period of time for the city as they rebuild and shape a new city, and is looking forward to being there as it happens.
You're right Missy. As I said in the post I did on Friday, Christchurch has an opportunity unlike any city anywhere in peace-time to rebuild and create a modern, vibrant city. My wife and I will be regular visitors, which will do the Christchurch retail sector no end of good!
Too true KS, and I am sure the retailers of Christchurch will appreciate your support. :)
She Who Must Be Obeyed will be undertaking most of the retail therapy Missy. My contribution will be providing the credit card ;-)
