Well done Baz

Brendon McCullum is the top-rated T20 player in the world. And the performance that he turned on last night against Bangladesh showed why.

The Bangladeshis were talking themselves up before last night's match, but they were given a right shellacking by McCullum and the rest of the New Zealanders. Quite why the Bangladesh side was so confident is anyone's guess. After all, they have had just one victory in the history of the ICC World T20. They bungled by asking New Zealand to bat first on a very good pitch , and were made to pay.

McCullum paced his innings beautifully. His fifty came up from 29 balls, and his hundred from 51 balls. Lastly, he went from 101 to 123 in a further six-ball assault before holing out to deep cover off the last ball of the innings.

Here are the latter stages of the innings:

New Zealand is now almost assured of a place in the Super Eights, unless Bangladesh can produce the kind of result against Pakistan that can only ever happen in a match against Pakistan. But if they beat the Pakistanis on Sunday night at the same venue, they will lock up the top place in their group.

And on the ICC WT20 tournament, isn't it great to see Afghanistan competing? They may have been heavily beaten by England in last night's other match, but their very presence in the tournament is most welcome.

Nothing could change last night's result though. Bangladesh quite simply got Bazzed!

As far as as Afganistan are concerned - just wait until they put Taliban people in the team, they will be bowling hand grenades.

Sorry I couldn't resist.
