The most valuable point of the season

The Wellington Phoenix went off to Melbourne on Friday with low expectations, but will have come away bouyed by the outcome; Stuff reports:

An under-strength Wellington Phoenix have secured one of the gutsier points in their brief A-League existence with a 1-1 draw against the Heart at Melbourne's AAMI Park tonight.
Without coach Ricki Herbert, and seven internationals away on World Cup qualifying duty, the Phoenix's chances had been written off by most pundits.
To make matters worse, a vomiting Cameron Lindsay ended up in hospital before the match, instead of preparing to take his place at right back.

The 'Nix players had everything against them going into this match, but in the end they were a little unlucky not to come away with the victory. They played with great heart ('scuse the pun at the opposition's expense), and the young players who slotted in for absent All Whites played with the aplomb of far more experienced players.

Two weeks into the A-League season the Wellington Phoenix sits second on the A-League ladder after a win and a draw. Come the end of the season, we reckon that this might just be the most valuable point the team secures this season. Wellington Phoenix looks to be one of the teams to beat in 2012-13.
