Cunliffe sacked from the front bench

David Shearer has, as widely expected stripped David Cunliffe of his portfolio responsibilities, and stripped him of his place on Labour's front bench.

Mr Shearer had no alternative in our ever-humble opinion. Others disagree and are saying so publicly right now. One of those who has spoken out against the decision is Greg Presland, a Labour Party stalwart from West Auckland who has tweeted thus:

It would seem that war has been declared between David Shearer and sections of the party he leads. And it seems that the decision that Shearer has made is no spur-of-the-moment one; check these two tweets out:

David Shearer may have underestimated the amount of support he has from Labour's rank and file. There is still a lot of water to go under the bridge with this whole issue.

Not euthanased as your earlier post predicted, but has he been neutered?

Not judging by the comments going up on this post at The Standard; Labour Party members are seriously angry:

Putting him down would have been the safer option!

That thread has been an interesting read Micky; there's some genuine anger out there.
