UPDATED: Idiots

No; were not talking about the Black Caps; this time, at least. It's these guys, as reported by the Herald:

There has been yet another incident involving a quad bike - this time involving four drunk adults and a child.
The bike rolled about 11.30pm last night on a road near Waimarama Beach, east of Hastings.
All passengers suffered multiple injuries including dislocated hips, broken legs and arms, and head injuries.
None of the injuries are life threatening.
Hawke's Bay police are scathing of the actions of those involved, especially as a six-year-old girl was one of those on the bike.
Senior Sergeant Luke Shadbolt said it is lucky no one died as a result of the incident.
He said it is a real shame that a six-year-old has to suffer due to the stupidity of the adults that were supposed to be looking after her.
The bike was not designed to carry five passengers.

Sometimes the stupidity of people leaves us speechless. We hope that the police throw the book at those who put a child's life at risk through their drunken idiocy.

UPDATE: Newstalk ZB reports:

A six year-old girl critically injured in a quad bike accident in Hawke's Bay has been rushed to Auckland's Starship Children's Hospital this afternoon.
APNZ reports she was flown by Air Ambulance from Napier to Auckland.
A spokeswoman for Hawkes Bay Hospital says she has a serious head injuries.
The child was with four adults who went on a drunken bike ride near Waimarama Beach last night.
The four injured adults including the girl's parents remain in the Hawkes Bay Hospital in a stable condition.

Now that it has been confirmed that the girl's parents were a part of this piece of incredible stupidity, we hope that CYFS is involved.

Have you never done anything dumb or stupid in your life?

Why are you so prissy - shit happens and none of us are perfect.

we hope that CYFS is involved.

And what would you have them do? Take the girl from her parents and mess her up even more?

Life is dangerous sometimes - we are only here still because we have had some lucky escapes at some point - we maybe not those who never go out and never do anything but sit on the couch watching TV may have never had a narrow shave but most normal people have had a few close calls

But for the alcohol, you might have otherwise had a point. But pre-loaded adults who overload a quad bike presumably on tricky terrain?

Quite so smttc - for one who believes in the sanctity of life, Andrei seems to have a very high tolerance for stupid people doing even more stupid things.

I feel even more strongly about this case tonight having seen the story on the TV news; RTD boxes everywhere. Instead of cracking a Woody, they've cracked their daughter's brain; here's hoping she survives their stupidity.
