The cricket in Cape Town last night was simply awful from a New Zealand perspective. So instead of a lengthy dissertation as to why the New Zealand side batted so badly, we're trying to find some humour or comic relief.
But the photograph below sets the stage. Yes; it really was THAT bad. New Zealand clocked up the lowest test match innings score since 1974, and the 12th worst of all time. And it has been recorded for posterity:
There's really no argument about how bad this performance was. We've supported New Zealand cricket for over 50 years, and we have never seen a worse batting effort in a test match.

What struck me watching the test was the fact our bastmen seem to have forgotten the most basic aspect of batting, get behind the ball. Phlander is a fantastic bowler, as he showed in Australia, but our bastmen were pathetic.
How do we fix this as it seems to infect the whole team.
It doesn't help when your two best batsmen are fit but hanging around at home due to appalling management. Hesson deserves the same treatment he gave to Taylor.
South Africa are good though. Are they due to play England anytime soon?
They played England in England during the northern summer; remember Amla's triple century? From memory, they hosted the English a year ago.

Step 1. Get a coach -- a proper one.
Step 2. Don't dilberately set the coach up to fail a la Justin Vaughan/John Wright.
Step 3. Don't select rash swashbucklers who cannot grit it out either as an opening batsman or captain.
Step 4. Tell them that they walk the talk or they don't get selected again.

Can you take over as head on NZ Cricket please.
This is all common sense, something NZC seems to have had a bypass of in recent years.
