Irish golfer Paul McGinley has been appointed captain of the European team for the 2014 Ryder Cup in Scotland. And his rival captain has been gracious at the appointment:

We blogged about Tom Watson being an inspired choice just before Christmas. Whilst McGinley is an excellent choice for Europe, he doesn't have quite the same mana as Watson who is revered by Scottish golf fans.

After the magnificent contest we witnessed last year, the 2014 Ryder Cup should be a titanic struggle. At this point, it's advantage USA.
