Meteorite explosion caught on camera

Central Russia had a cosmic moment last night as a meteorite exploded. The city of Chelyabinsk about 1500km east of Moscow copped the brunt of the explosion; upwards of 3000 building were damaged, and 500 people injured.

Driving standards aren't great in Russia, and many drivers have dashboard cameras installed in case they fall victim to someone else's stupidity. And it is from dash-cams and CCTV that the footage in this montage has been drawn, and already posted on YouTube:

When Mother Nature puts on a show, she doesn't do it by halves. This is fascinating footage; well worth a look.
