Rawdon Christie from TVNZ's Breakfast demonstrates how the modern media gets its stories. But it earns him a mild rebuke from the former hear of news and current affairs at TVNZ:
Is it any wonder that the MSM gets so much derision when their sole method of news collection these days seems to be going onto social media and encouraging people to leak embargoed stories to them?

Well, with the obsession the government has with secrecy, controlling the message and spin they need to get to the facts somehow.
When did MSM become overly concerned with facts?
"When did MSM become overly concerned with facts?"
When did Rawdon Christie become MSM?
I was giving him the benefit of the doubt Nestor.
And Edward; you're quite happy with the public getting the teacher union's distorted view on today's announcements before they are made officially then?
Why do you say 'sole method' of news collection?
There's nothing to suggest that, so I assume you're building a story from very little, in the way your greasy hero Cam Slater does.
"you're quite happy with the public getting the teacher union's distorted view on today's announcements before they are made officially then?"
Of course not! My only source of reliable, undistorted news is press releases issued by Ministers. Anything else is politically-motivated propaganda.
