Herald journalist Bernard Orsman has been a strong supporter of Auckland mayor Len Brown. But is Mr Orsman smelling the winds of change in the Supercity?
Len Brown won the mayoralty in 2010 largely because the unions mobilised thousands of voters in South Auckland and West Auckland. But if those areas have voted with their feet this year (and there has been little evidence of the unions backing Brown), whilst there has been a higher turnout from the more conservative areas around central Auckland, the North Shore and out east, could there yet be a shock result?
A few weeks ago, the very idea of Len Brown losing would have been unthinkable. Is the unthinkable about to turn in to Len Brown's worst night-mayor?
