Tweet of the Day - 23 July 2014
Tonight attention turns to Eden Park in Auckland for the match between West Ham United and the Wellington Phoenix. By a quirk of extremely bad timing, we will be arriving home FROM Auckland where we have been attending a computer conference just as the match kicks off! Had we twigged as to the dates, we would have extended our stay in Auckland.
This tour is a brilliant initiative by the Phoenix. Here's hoping the club is rewarded with a bumper crowd in Auckland tonight, even if we are not amongst it.

It is amazing the way sport comes together at times such as this. Sunderland Fans (Arch enemies for a Century or more of Newcastle) have raised in excess of 30,000 pound for Memorial funds for Liam and John.
ReplyDeleteOur own Yellow fever also doing a collection (donations can be made here https://www.givealittle.co.nz/member/bwtcf/project/YellowFeverToonMemorial/donate).
Also organising signed playing strips to be made available to the families as a memorial.
Are you heading south on Saturday for the Double header?
ReplyDeleteI would love to be Jeff, but alas not.
ReplyDeleteBad time management I2!
ReplyDeleteI will be at Eden Park tonight.
Looking forward to seeing the Hammers in action.
Looking forward to seeing the new Phoenix midfield play, I suspect siting in front of the defence, although given the hammers route one approach they may not have that much to do other than watch balls sail over their heads.
You're not wrong QH. After three days of hotel rooms and conference venues a night at the Garden of Eden would have revived me nicely.
